Growing up, John Grassham frequently visited his grandmother’s family in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos, where he heard heart-felt stories of early Hispanic life. These remarkable accounts inspired him to follow his passion and become a New Mexico historian, a curator at The Albuquerque Museum, a founding member of the New Mexico Historic Preservation Association, and a past president of the Historical Society of New Mexico. Passionate and sensitive about this land and its people, John understands and truly values the unique nature of his profession and the appropriateness of selling historic homes through the National Trust for Historic Preservation certification program through ERA.
John’s real estate experience began in Houston, where he worked for several years. His clients appreciate his accessibility, knowledge, and willingness to go the extra mile, and many have remained close friends. John is thrilled to provide his clients in New Mexico with the same personal care and attention. A former long-distance runner, he likens real estate deals to marathons: they require commitment to face the occasional obstacle and tenacity to cross the finish line.
In 2022, John joined Sotheby's International Realty in Santa Fe, the city’s undisputed market share leader. This prestigious partnership allows him to offer clients the strength, unparalleled resources, and true global reach of the Sotheby’s International Realty network along with sophisticated marketing materials produced by the finest photographers, videographers, writers, and graphic designers. The firm’s 26,000 highly experienced and trusted sales agents in 81 countries and key cities around the world help facilitate transactions outside New Mexico.
Deeply committed to this community, John has served on numerous boards both statewide and in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, including The Albuquerque Museum Foundation among others. He was executive director of Creative Albuquerque, was appointed to the Bernalillo County Arts Board, graduated from Leadership Albuquerque, and was named the number one nonprofit leader to know in New Mexico by Albuquerque Business First. John is a devoted yoga and meditation practitioner.
