We are your neighborhood cafe!

  • Delicious New Mexican food
  • Local-friendly prices
  • Locally grown ingredients

The Atrisco Cafe & Bar is a friendly, neighborhood New Mexican restaurant. Our philosophy is simple recipes, fresh ingredients, and friendly service. We cater to the tastes of Santa Feans who love authentic New Mexican chile, but also offer a small but carefully crafted selection of American dishes such as burgers with house-cut fries, Southwest Chicken Salad, and Meat Loaf. When possible, we purchase New Mexico grown ingredients, including all-natural grass-fed ground beef, lamb, red and green chile, honey, and vegetables when in season.

About Atrisco Cafe & Bar
My name is George Gundrey and I opened the Atrisco Cafe & Bar with the hope of providing good food in a friendly environment. Atrisco Cafe & Bar is a third generation family restaurant with its roots at the corner of Atrisco Boulevard and Central Avenue in Albuquerque. It was here from the 1940s to the 1970s that my grandmother, Sophia, operated the Central Cafe. My mother, Georgia, and her siblings grew up working at the Central Cafe in the Atrisco barrio. There they developed a love of chile while learning how to run a great restaurant. The Atrisco Cafe & Bar benefits from the wisdom of my mother, my father, Richard, and my aunts and uncles, as they owned and operated the Mayflower Cafe, Tomasita’s, Richard’s Horseman’s Haven, Tia Sophia’s, and Diego’s. For over 40 years, our family has relied on simple recipes, quality ingredients, and friendly service.
