Biography for Santa Fe Real Estate Consultants

    Santa Fe Real Estate Consultants

Santa Fe Real Estate Consultants is a team born of a partnership formed 13 years ago between Joshua Maes and Malissa Kullberg, two brokers with a tightly allied work ethic, common values, and complementary strengths. Joshua came to real estate after a stream of successes in management and sales, beginning at age 18 when he launched his career as the youngest restaurant owner in the history of Santa Fe. Malissa's background in communications and sales includes serving as co-director of a leading Canyon Road gallery. Through the combining of their talents, they have become one of Santa Fe’s top-performing teams.

Their marketing of a modest property in Nambe, near Santa Fe, attracted the attention of Barbara Corcoran, who selected it to be featured on her segment for The Today Show.

Joshua and Malissa work in both Santa Fe and Taos.

In their own words, there's a reason they call themselves consultants. “We don't just sell; we help you make decisions. We are committed to professionalism at every turn. We treat you and your concerns with respect. We respond to contacts promptly. If we don't know the answer to something, we’ll say so, and do our best to direct you to someone who does. We’ll always tell you the truth, not what we think you want to hear.”

Joshua currently serves on the board of directors of the Santa Fe Association of Realtors. He is also treasurer of the Acequia del Pinavetal. Joshua and Malissa are co-founders of Changing Gallery, which uses real estate listings to showcase the work of emerging and independent artists.

    Joshua Maes

Initiative. Committment to quality. Performance: Joshua has a track record of exceptional results. Joshua has a track record of exceptional results. At eighteen, Joshua launched his career as the youngest restaurant owner/operator in the history of Santa Fe with the opening of his downtown restaurant, Mucho Gourmet. Four years later, he sold the restaurant and moved to California, where he distinguished himself as the successful manager of a busy Rubios franchise and, later, a product knowledge specialist and top salesperson at a Bob Baker auto dealership. His next career move led him to Windemere Exclusive Properties, one of the leading real estate agencies in California, where he was recognized as Rookie of the Year.

With over 25 years of experience in sales, negotiation, and management, Joshua offers a powerful arsenal of skills to both buyers and sellers. Hands-on experience with remodeling three homes and nine condos gives him a keen eye for the details of quality construction.

Joshua has earned respect from clients and fellow brokers for his professional management of details and willingness to do whatever it takes to see a transaction through to a successful conclusion. His formula for success: work hard, be diplomatic, know your desired outcome, and then organize people and events to make it happen.

Joshua attributes his drive and strong work ethic to the example set by his mother, Supreme Court Justice Petra Jimenez Maes, the first Hispana Chief Justice in U.S. history.

In his free time, Joshua enjoys cycling, hiking, spending time with his family, and supporting Santa Fes creative community.

    Malissa Kullberg

Born and raised in the Midwest -Minneapolis and Chicago-Malissa matriculated on the Annapolis campus of St. John's, discovering Santa Fe during a trip to visit a friend. Drawn to Santa Fe's magnificent mountains, clean, dry air, creative bounty and down-to-earth residents, she stayed to finish her degree and despite a few detours back to Chicago and overseas, never shook the sense that this was home.

Business professionalism was a strong and formative presence from early life through which Malissa learned firsthand the pleasures --and power-- of integrity, ahead-of-the-curve training, and hard work.

Extensive travel and education hard-wired Malissa to be curious, resourceful and inclined to face challenge with a philosophical sense of humor. With a broad-based education in the Great Books (B.A., St. John's College), Botanical Medicine (B.S.) and Fine Art. Malissa has a variety of perspectives from which to approach a problem. Living overseas (Geneva and Rome) fine-tuned her ability to adapt. Malissa speaks fluent Italian and slightly rusty French.

Career highlights include helping ghost-write and edit a book on Career Transitions, serving as Course Administrator for a distance learning program in Integrative Medicine (written and researched by a Time Magazine "Innovator-of-the-Year" and former Chair of the White House Commission for Alternative and Complementary Medicine), and acting as a Co-Director for a contemporary art gallery on Canyon Road. Malissa has served on several boards and committees including the Board of the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and is co-founder, along with Joshua, of Changing Gallery, which uses real estate listings to showcase the work of emerging and independent artists.
